Technologists Charged on Professionalism

A call has gone to technologists and technical staff to show high level of professionalism in the course of discharging their duties in the University. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olusola Oyewole, made this call at a 2-day training workshop on Laboratory Quality Control and Assurance for Laboratory Technologists. While advocating for effective service delivery by every member of staff of the University, most especially, technologists, he said “if there is something we need at such a time as this in this University, it is professionalism”.

FSM Gets Full Accreditation, New Name

The National Universities Commission has granted full accreditation to the University’s Foodservice and Tourism programme, College of Food Science and Human Ecology (COLFHEC). According to the Acting Head of the Department, Dr. (Mrs.) Mobolaji Omemu, the NUC conducted the exercise by carrying out preliminary inspection of the existing facilities, curriculum and administrative records.

The Dream Project

A programme, tagged The DREAM Project, is now available for students in the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries, as well as staff members to undertake a mobility period, or full degree, in some of the best universities in Europe. Scholarships are available for Master and Doctorate students and also for staff members (Academic and Administrative) and it includes a monthly allowance, travel, insurance and tuition fees. According to the Director, Grants Management, Dr Olukayode Akinyemi, the available scholarships are:
For ACP candidates:
• Master: students from the ACP countries willing to develop their activity in an European Partner University. The duration of a Master mobility flow can be between 10 (one academic year) and 24 (two academic years) months, depending on the duration of studies and corresponding to a monthly scholarship of 1,000 €.
• Doctorate: students from the ACP countries willing to develop their activity in an European Partner University. The duration of a PhD mobility flow is 10 months and full PhD is 36 months and corresponds to a monthly scholarship of 1,500 €.   ...Read More

FUNAAB Becomes World Bank Centre of Excellence

The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), is  now one of the World Bank’s Africa Centre of Excellence (ACE) in  Agriculture.
The University was chosen after a rigorous desk evaluation exercise, which was followed by a site evaluation by the ACE Project Steering Committee, which held its final selection meeting in Dakar, Senegal recently.
A breakdown of the result shows that FUNAAB is one of the seven (7) ACE’s in Nigeria and the only one (1) for Agriculture in the country.
